A 1951 Ontario newspaper article* says that George Weston (who built the cottage which is the topic of the article in 1836) says his father, General Weston, moved to Canada and fought in the 1812 War. The whole family was captured and imprisoned, and that George was born in the prison camp in 1814.

The article also notes that the cottage is situated at RR2, Bayfield, and at the time of the article was still inhabited by Mr and Mrs Frank Picot, and that Mrs Picot's father is George's son Walter, who was born and lived all his life there.
